Many modern garden tables have a stone-look top, such as HPMS stone at Apple Bee, sintered stone or ceramic. These tops are hard, scratch- and weather-resistant and require little maintenance. With the right approach, they will continue to look sleek for years.
In short
- After use wipe with a damp cloth.
- Stains such as oil, wine and coffee should be removed immediately with lukewarm water and a mild soap.
- No scouring pads or harsh chemicals.
Daily cleaning
- Wipe the top with a soft, damp cloth.
- For greasy spots, use lukewarm water with a little mild dish soap.
- Dry with a clean cloth afterwards to prevent limescale marks.
Tip: always wipe up oil, grease, red wine and coffee as quickly as possible. This prevents them from soaking in.
What not to do
- No scouring pads, steel wool or abrasive cleaners.
- No strong acids or harsh cleaning products.
- Do not place hot pans or barbecue utensils directly on the top: use a trivet.
- Do not strike the edges with hard objects. The edges are the most vulnerable.
For the winter
- Clean and dry the top.
- Make sure no water remains on the top that could freeze. A breathable protective cover helps.
- Maintain the frame according to the advice for aluminium, teak or stainless steel.
