Apple Bee designs garden furniture that stays beautiful for years. That starts with the materials. In this guide, you will learn what each material is, why it was chosen, which series you can find it in, and how to maintain it.

Apple Bee Bee Wett cushion

Bee Wett® cushions

Bee Wett® is Apple Bee's cushion technology, introduced in 2003 with the first real outdoor armchair. The foam has an open-cell structure and a drainage system at the bottom: rainwater flows right through it, and the cushion dries quickly. The covers are made of Olefin: water-repellent, wear-resistant, dirt-repellent, and colorfast.

  • Why: cushions that can be left outside, even after a rain shower.
  • You will find it in: virtually all Apple Bee lounge sets.

Maintenance

  • Brush away dirt and remove stains immediately, before they set in.
  • Wash the covers at a maximum of 30 °C with a mild detergent, without chlorine.
  • Do not tumble dry or iron; put the covers back on the cushion while they are still damp.
  • Store clean and dry indoors during the winter.
Apple Bee lounge chair with rope

Rope

Rope is braided rope made of synthetic fibers around an aluminum or teak frame. It feels soft and tactile and gives a set a warm, natural look, while being able to withstand the weather.

Maintenance

  • Regularly brush off loose dirt and leaves.
  • Clean with lukewarm water, a mild soap, and a soft brush, following the weave.
  • No pressure washer, bleach, or solvents.
  • Let the rope dry thoroughly before placing a (breathable) cover over it.
Apple Bee Cocoon in Biculair wicker

Biculair® wicker

Apple Bee started in 1993 as a wicker specialist. Biculair® wicker is their own outdoor wicker: an HDPE fiber that is weather-resistant, comfortable, durable, and recyclable. It is the wicker of icons such as the Cocoon.

Maintenance

  • Regularly brush or vacuum dust and leaves out of the wicker.
  • A few times a year: lukewarm water, mild soap, and a soft brush, following the wicker pattern.
  • No pressure washer, hard brushes, or abrasive cleaners.
  • Let it dry thoroughly before replacing the cushions.
Apple Bee teak tabletop

Teak

Teak is one of the strongest woods for outdoors. Thanks to the natural oil in the wood, it can withstand rain and sun well. Untreated, it turns silver-gray over time; with the right treatment, you can maintain the warm, honey-brown color.

Maintenance

  • Doing nothing is not an option: untreated teak naturally turns silver-gray.
  • Clean it 1 to 2 times a year with a teak cleaner, such as the Apple Bee Teak Cleaner.
  • For an even gray: Teak Shield in two coats on clean, dry wood, usually once a year.
  • No pressure washer and no sander.
Apple Bee aluminum garden chair

Aluminium

Aluminium is light, strong, and does not rust. As a result, it is the foundation of the majority of Apple Bee lounge sets, garden chairs, and tables, often combined with teak, rope, or wicker.

Maintenance

  • Clean twice a year with lukewarm water and a mild soap.
  • No scouring sponges, steel wool, or harsh chemicals: these damage the coating.
  • Rinse more often with clean water when near the coast or a swimming pool.
Apple Bee table with stone top

HPMS stone and sintered stone

For tabletops, Apple Bee uses stone materials with a natural stone look. HPMS stone is mainly found on lounge and side tables, while sintered stone is found on many dining and living room tables. Both are sleekly finished and require little maintenance.

Maintenance

  • Wipe clean with a damp cloth after use.
  • Remove oil, wine, and coffee immediately with lukewarm water and a mild soap.
  • No scouring sponges or strong acids, and do not place hot pans directly on the top.
Apple Bee Camp Bay

Stainless steel

Stainless steel is strong and allows for slim, elegant frames. The frame of the Camp Bay is made of stainless steel: the dining chair that won the DOFAS Design Award in 2025.

  • Why: a slim, strong frame with a refined look.
  • You will find it in: Camp Bay.

Maintenance

  • Clean a few times a year with lukewarm water and a mild soap, then wipe dry.
  • No steel wool, chlorine, or bleach.
  • Brown spots are usually superficial; a stainless steel cleaner will remove them.
